The Estuarium is excited to welcome aboard our new Executive Director Paris McClusky! Paris is a long time Olympia resident with a history of community involvement and environmental activism.
Paris has served as the manager of two Olympia Co-op locations and joined their Local Products Committee before becoming a Greener Grad with a Masters in Environmental Studies. As a graduate student of the MES program at The Evergreen State College Paris worked rigorously in conservation biology, technical/analytical writing, biological statistics, and Geographic Information Systems (GIS).
Time spent as an Evergreen graduate student also gave Paris opportunities to monitor wetland mitigation sites for the Washington State Department of Transportation and intern with Conservation Northwest’s Citizen Wildlife Monitoring Project, working on their database and leading a team of citizen scientists into the backcountry to set up and maintain wildlife camera installations. Paris finished out his time at Evergreen with his masters thesis, which dealt with modeling habitat corridors across developing areas for focal large carnivores of concern here in the Pacific Northwest.
Paris’s knowledge, experience, and love of the Puget Sound is sure to make a great addition to our team.
