Volunteers are at the heart of our organization. They help the Estuarium support programs to educate our community about the Puget Sound, its estuaries, and marine environment. Joining an Estuarium Team is a great way to get involved in our programs. Teams meet monthly, and members are asked to dedicate at least four hours per month to their committee goals. Please contact Volunteer Coordinator if you are interested in joining any of these groups.

Designs curriculum modules, sets up field trips, coordinates classroom curriculum kits, and evaluates program success. Programs for K-12 educational field trips include: On the Water, Estuary Life and Landforms at the Estuarium, and Meet the Beach. The Education Team meets the fourth Thursday of every month from 6:30 to 7:30 PM at the Estuarium. Education Coordinator Aeriel Wauhob is the Education Team Lead.
Develops, plans, and hosts fun and informative Estuarium events that raise awareness of the importance and wonder of Puget Sound and that raise funds to support the Estuarium’s educational programs and services. Some of examples of the events planned by the Events Team are Songs for SSEA, the SSEA the Sound Cruise and our Annual Meeting. The Events Team meets the second Wednesday of every month from 4:30 to 5:30 PM at the Estuarium. Board member Diana Larsen-Mills is the Events Team Lead.
Solicits the funds to expand the Estuarium’s ability to protect Puget Sound and to enrich the lives of our neighbors. The Development and Fundraising Team writes grants and appeals for individual donations and corporate sponsorships for program and project funding. The Development Team meets the second Thursday of every month from 6:30 to 7:30 PM at the Estuarium. Board member Amanda Newsom is the Development and Fundraising Team Lead.
Provides scientific, technical, educational, and design feedback on rotating and permanent exhibits in the Estuarium. The Exhibits Team meets the third Tuesday of every month from 6:00 – 7:00 PM. Outreach Coordinator Elisa McGee is the Exhibits Team Lead.
