SSEA the Sound – 10 Year Birthday

In September we are celebrating two birthdays – 5 years of operating the Estuarium, our Marine Life Discovery Center on September 9th from 11 am – 4 pm and on September 16, 10 years of SSEA the Sound cruises. 

Estuarium Admission  fee will be waived on September 9th.  Join us for kid activities and birthday cake.

On September 16th we celebrate 10 years of offering the SSEA the Sound Cruise.  Birthday cake will be a featured item of the tasty treats available on the cruise.

ABOUT THE PRESENTER:

Casey Mclean, Director and Marine Veterinary Nurse will discuss efforts to build the first marine animal rehabilitation and science center in Washington State. Hear Casey’s first-hand accounts about marine animal rehabilitation, threats our local wildlife face and the need for a rehabilitation center in our region.

SR3 is a collaborative organization that is supported by the community. Current activities include disentangling sea lions and large whales from fishing gear, responding to stranded or injured marine wildlife and studying cetacean health with an emphasis on resident orca whales.

Specimens Casey will bring with her are a sea otter pelt, large whale and small whale baleen, orca tooth, whale vertebrae, seal pelt, sea lion whiskers.

Tasty Treats: As usual we will have tasty treats, coffee/tea, water, plus the 10th birthday cake. No host bar is also available.
