Starting August 1, SSEA has a paid Executive Director!
SEA is excited to announce the hiring of a new, part-time Executive Director, Sasha Medlen. Sasha has worked with environmental organizations and non-profits for 15 years. She is excited to join the team and work toward protecting our estuaries in the Puget Sound.
“I am thrilled to be a part of this exciting time for SSEA as they expand their programs and outreach. It is clear that SSEA is supported by a group of amazing members, donors, staff, and Board of Directors, and I am grateful for the opportunity to work with everyone on these critical projects in our estuaries.”
Sasha has worked as a consultant for REEF (REEF Environmental Education Foundation), and for MAR3INE. Past clients also include the San Diego Coastkeeper and Clallam Bay/Sekiu Chamber of Commerce. She has various skills in strategic planning, marketing, public relations, membership, grant writing, non-profit formation, and board development. She also has worked for a variety of agencies, businesses, and non-profits, such as: Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife, NOAA Olympic Coast Sanctuary, Electronic Evidence Discovery, Southern California Waterkeepers, and the Environmental Protection Agency.
Sasha loves being in the water, from surfing to scuba diving to exploring the rivers that feed the Sound. She is Secretary of the Surfrider Capitol Chapter and started the Blue Water Task Force to sample water at Priest Point Park in partnership with the Department of Ecology’s BEACH Program.
Her passion for water quality, aquatic critters, and natural history is contagious, and will be of great value to SSEA. If you would like to contact her to introduce yourself, please email her at firstname.lastname@example.org.
