It’s a Plankton Phenomena! In June and July, we are focusing on these very important organisms that are critical for estuary food webs.
The next featured events are community painting days on Saturday and Sunday, July 15th and 16th, from 9 AM – Noon. This event is weather dependent. So check back at this page for updates.
So far, the weather looks good! It’s been hot out, so please bring proper clothes and be sure to stay hydrated!

In June, we held a very fun event at the Estuarium! Mary Middleton from Pacific Shellfish Institute talked about plankton and how ocean acidification effects them. Carrie Ziegler also reviewed the plankton mural art project happening in July. We had an opportunity to draw our favorite plankton for the mural design, and some kids even decided to sketch plankton on the ground using colorful chalk!
